Ute Mountaineer Speaker Series
From time to time Ute Mountaineer will bring in speakers to present a
slide show, book presentation or clinic. We will have them on the third Tuesday night of the month.
In the past we have had the
Tuesday Night Speaker Series every month and now we are going to
transition to having speakers do shows at the store for special
occasions. We have enjoyed presentations from
climbers, skiers and adventurers. Most live here in the Roaring Fork
Valley and some have come from out of town.
The
talks have ranged from climbing in Cuba to skiing down Everest. John
Gill, the father of modern bouldering, gave a talk about the "Evolution
of Modern Bouldering" and Ted Mahon described how his group overcame the
collapse of the signature Dablam on Ama Dablam to make it to the summit.
Chris Davenport packed the store for his video/slide show on his ski
adventures in Antarctica from the sailing ship, Australis. Neal
Beidleman showed his amazing slides from his trip to Makalu and his
climb on the mountain. Sam Elias showed us his climbing adventure in
Venezuela. We also had a couple of nights watching classic climbing
films.
All of
the Ute Mountaineer Speaker Series nights are free and open to the public. They start at
7pm at the Ute Mountaineer 210 S. Galena St. If you would like to
