THIS IS A DRUG LIST TO CONSIDER FOR THIRD WORLD TRAVEL OR FAR FLUNG EXPEDITIONS. TAKE THIS TO YOUR PHYSICIAN WELL BEFORE YOUR TRIP AND LET HER/HIM MODIFY AND UPDATE IT ACCORDING TO CURRENT MEDICAL WISDOM. USE THIS ONLY AS A STARTING POINT FOR CONVERSATION WITH YOUR DOCTOR!

Pain:
[ ] Aspirin: aches, pains, inflammation
[ ] Ibuprofin: aches, pains, inflammation
[ ] Tylenol: headaches, fever
[ ] Percocet: big pain
[ ] Demerol: huge pain, non-ambulatory
Stomach:
[ ] Imodium: loose bowel
[ ] Cipro: loose bowel w/ fever
[ ] Flagyl: parasites, i.e. giardia
[ ] Tiniba: parasites, i.e. giardia
Infection:
[ ] Biaxin: upper respiratory
[ ] Cipro: loose bowel w/ fever
[ ] Keflex: joint/bone infection
Altitude:
[ ] Diamox: prophylactic use
[ ] Dexamethasone: cerebral edema
[ ] Nifedipine: pulmonary edema
[ ] Ginko Biloba: prophylactic use
Sleep
***any of these medications can depress respiration and cause worse problems than sleep loss
[ ] Halcion
[ ] Ambien CR
[ ] Lunesta
General
[ ] Tobradex: eye infections / eye pain
[ ] Anakit: injection for serious allergic reaction
[ ] Cortisone cream: poison ivy / poison oak skin reaction
[ ] Fansidar or other: Malaria prophylaxis
