Just another sunny day in the mountains. Damon and his girlfriend, Mahai head out for a day hike to Cathedral Lake. They started early at 8:45am to do the 6 mile round trip hike.
With wildflowers along the way to look at and with the mountains surrounding them, the two hikers had a thoroughly enjoyable time. They made sure to have plenty of sunblock, glasses and hats. Damon was carrying his Osprey Raptor 10 hydration pack and they were able to find more water in the lake and stream that they walked along. Don’t forget to filter the water before you drink it.
There were a couple of skeeters/gnats around the lake’s edge but on the trail there weren’t any. The day was a blue-bird Colorado day but as the summer goes on packing a rain shell will be advisable for the afternoon showers that spring up.
Dressed in shorts and wicking t-shirts, with merino socks and their Salewa Firetail GTX hiking shoes the two hikers were very comfortable.
This is one of the most beautiful hikes in our valley and also one of the most accessible from Aspen/Snowmass. To avoid a crowded trail start at 8am or earlier and of course weekends are the busiest.
