Avalanche Creek Day Trip

Ute Staff member Angus Morrison and friends took a day trip to the Avalanche Creek Campground on a blue bird February day. The group followed the snow covered road from Avalanche Creek to the campground. This is an easy tour for first-timers and also old pros who just want to get out into the snow covered mountains that surround us.

Here is a shot of Angus at the start of the trip. As you can see the smile never left his face. The group recommends enough water for a 4.5 hour cross country ski tour. Lunch is optional, but don’t forget to bring plenty of sunscreen. The trip is roughly 4 miles with a 510′ altitude gain.

The way in is super easy.

After the flats there was a good snow bridge at the stream crossing.

At the campground the group stopped for lunch, a drink of water and some fun goofing around for the camera. They used NNN BC gear with good wax for the trip.
