Here
are some steps you
can take to make
sure your tent can
accompany you on
many excursions to
come:
-
Seam-seal the seams
on your tent’s fly.
This will keep any
water from seeping
in through the
stitching on the
fly.
-
Unzip
and air out your
tent after every
use. You may need
to set it up to
fully dry it out.
-
Make
sure your tent is
free of dirt, sand,
and debris. Dirt
will work its way
through the material
of your tent and
will weaken it over
time.
-
If
you need to enhance
the water repellency
of your tent’s fly,
use a
waterproof/breathable
product such as
Nikwax Tent and Gear
Proof on the
uncoated
side of your fly.
Follow the
directions on the
bottle to ensure
proper treatment.
