Here are some steps you can take to make sure your Gore-TexÒ shell stays waterproof: 

• Keep it clean.  Dirt will attract water and reduce the beading-up of droplets on the fabric's surface.
   

• When you are ready to wash your Gore-TexÒ shell, follow the care instructions on the garment tag.
   

• Use a wash-in or spray-on treatment such as Nikwax TX-Direct to boost the water repellency of your garment.  Spots on the fabric that start to “wet out”, or absorb water, are signs that your shell is in need of some Nikwax love.
