Bob Wade
Bob, the illustrious
owner of The Ute
Mountaineer, can be
found tele skiing,
climbing, surfing, or
reading. He loves his
hooded sweatshirt, quick
afternoon runs up Hunter
Creek, and footwear
(“call me Imelda”). Bob
is looking forward to
connecting some of the
10th Mountain Huts in a
way he hasn’t done
before.
Ruth Wade
Yes, it’s true; Ruth was
born and raised in Aspen
proper. She loves
cross-country skiing
(classic technique),
road biking, and hiking,
and has most recently
learned how to surf.
Ruth was chosen for the
part of “Little Blue
Angel” in her second
grade Christmas play,
loves Fat Tire, and is
setting her goal of
getting to her 50th
wedding anniversary. |

Paul
Perley
Paul is our general
manager and has lived in
the Aspen area since
1985. When he’s not in
the office, he can be
found running, telemark
skiing, or chasing after
his two young sons.
When asked what his gear
weakness is, Paul
replied, “is coffee
considered gear?” A more
important question has
never been asked! |

Justin
Hewitt
Justin is the new floor
manager here at the Ute,
a climber, his
favorite outdoor moment
was the summer
when he summited
Chomolungma (Mt.
Everest). Although
he has only been in
Aspen a short while
Justin has tried
canyoneering and he
cannot wait to go out on
his snowboard.

Sam
Barg
Sam is the hard goods
buyer for the Ute. Sam
enjoys running,
motorcycling, hiking,
cycling and competing in
most of the local uphill
challenges either on
foot or on his skis. |

Susan Jackson
Susan arrived in Aspen
in 1976 and has made
Aspen her home. She is in
charge of Ute's web
site. When not in the
office she can be found
either enjoying a raft
trip or on the ski
slopes. She was one
of the goalies for the
Aspen Mother Puckers ice
hockey team. |

Weston
Paas
Born and raised in
Aspen, Weston loves to
hunt, fish and play with
his 17 month old son. A
gear addict who is
comfortable travelling
off the beaten path,
Weston loves skiing any
trail with fresh powder
and relaxing with his
family while he plans
for his next big
adventure. |

Dennis Handley
Dennis has lived in
Aspen since 1992. He and
his dog, Nemo, can be
found chasing powder
dumps, good rock, and
cold Budweisers. Dennis’
next big goal is to go
for ten years without
the need for any
surgeries or rehab. |

Mojo
"Office Dog"
Mojo has taken over
the office and can be
found on most days
standing guard on his
portaledge by Sam's
desk. Mojo's favorite
winter sport is plowing
thru the snow in the
park or on any trail
that he is trying to
follow Sam on. His next
big goal in life is
summiting Smuggler Mtn.
by himself.

Angus Morrison
As a Professional
Adventure Enabler Angus
is always seeking the
next great adventure
when he is not out in
the backcountry on his
split board. He
likes to rock climb,
read guide books and
play his guitar. To calm
down a bit Angus would
like to learn how to fly
fish this summer. |

Mary Harlan
After a day of
climbing some of the
more radical routes
around Aspen Mary enjoys
down time researching
new routes and playing
with her 1 year old son.
When not doing that she
can be found ice
climbing or alpine
skiing. This winter she
would like to complete 4
ski mountaineering
races, followed by a
trip to Yosemite in the
spring. |

Damon
Giordano
Damon enjoys
climbing, snowball
fights, running, biking,
hiking and cooking
Italian foods. His
newest adventure is
learning how to use his
AT gear to explore the
mountains around us.
Damon has studied
in the Rainforests of
Costa Rica for three
weeks, watched a meteor
shower on Lassen Peak
National Park in
California and would
someday like to go
hiking in the Milford
Track in New Zealand.

Jess Tuttle
Jess arrived in Aspen at the beginning of the summer and is excited to explore
all of the skiing opportunities on Aspen's mountains. A coach for the Aspen Swim
team Jess has competed in the La Jolla Rough Water 3-Mile swim in California, a
ultra-marathon in Iceland and recently completed the Vasque Golden Leaf Half
Marathon. Say "Hi" to her when you see her hiking up the Highlands Bowl for the
first time.

Kristin Hennesy
Kristin has been in
Aspen for a little over
a year. She loves
mountain biking,
slack-lining and
fly-fishing. She just
started climbing this
summer
and was pleased to send
a route for the first
time. In the winter
Kristin loves to ski
anywhere in the Aspen
area.

Joe
Jackson V
Joe has taught
English to Nepalese
schoolchildren and
trekked on Annapurna.
Riding his mountain bike
in the summer and skiing
everything that is steep
and deep in the winter
are Joe's favorite
outdoor sports. This
summer Joe has been
learning how to
paddleboard and knows
the importance of
wearing his helmet.

Marlene Mickey
Marlene was the
Alpine Volunteer of the
Year at Aspen Valley Ski
& Snowboard Club, she
loves to plan dinner,
knit, cook awesome
desserts, read and work
in her garden. Her
newest sport is trail
running and she is
planning on travelling
more with her husband
Jim now that the girls
are off to college.
Marlene also enjoys
watching her daughter
compete in competitive
bike racing. |
