“Something for Everyone” is the theme for the 22nd Aspen Parks and Recreation Owl Creek Chase, which is moving to January 17, 2009, its original date on the calendar. Since 1985 the Owl Creek Chase has been one of Colorado’s favorite Nordic events, drawing hundreds of Citizen racers annually, and has since grown into the largest multi-day event in Colorado, the Aspen Nordic Festival. With the Owl Creek Chase as the centerpiece of the multi-day event, the Aspen Nordic Festival features races and activities for all ages. Events included are; Junior Olympic Qualifiers, Citizen level Colorado Cup racing and a free clinic, Elite level events in the USSA SuperTour, Sprint racing at Wagner Park, and for the first time this year, the University of Colorado NCAA Invitational.

Course Description
The 21K event of the Owl Creek Chase begins at the Snowmass Cross Country Center.  The course follows a loop around the Snowmass Club Golf Course before connecting to the Owl Creek Trail.  Follow the Owl Creek Trail, crossing Buttermilk, and the Tiehack Bridge.  After the bridge, there is a loop around the Moore Property and the Aspen Public Golf Course before finishing at the Aspen Cross Country Center.  To see a course map, click here.

USSA SuperTour
The Owl Creek Chase is the 6th venue of 14 Supertour events in the winter of 2008-2009.  It is also part of the FIS Marathon Cup Series.  This tour will attract elite skiers from all around the world and is an exciting addition to the Aspen area.

Colorado Cup
The Colorado Cup is a series of 5 cross country ski races selected from the normal Colorado Nordic Event Calendar that scores races cumulatively by overall gender and age group/gender categories.  For scoring and more information, visit
