Aspen Town Nordic Series
2007-08
The Town Nordic Series is a seven-event race and touring series held
throughout the Roaring Fork Valley that emphasizes participation and FUN for
all ages and ability levels, racers and non-racers alike. The Ute Mountaineer in Aspen is the
promoter for the Series. Events have
a festive atmosphere with food, beverages, and raffle prizes. Points
are awarded for an individual's age group and overall finish, and are
tallied throughout the season. Overall and age group winners will be
awarded prizes at the end-of-the-season party on March 2.
Schedule
December 16 - Aspen Town Series Nordic Opener - 4K and 8K Freestyle
at the Aspen Golf Course tracks. 10 a.m. start. Awards and
raffle to follow.
December 22 - 36th Annual Silverboom - 6K and 12K Freestyle race at
the Snowmass Cross Country Center. 10 a.m. start. 1K Kiddieboom at
noon for kids 10 and under. Free beverages and snacks. Awards and raffle to
follow at Snowmass XC Center.
January 12 - Ashcroft Classic - 10K Classic at Ashcroft Touring
Center. 9:00 a.m. start. Awards to follow. Please note date
change.
January 27 - Aspen High School Classic - 6K and 12K Classic
races at the Aspen High School Tracks. Interval start. 10 a.m.
start. Awards and raffle to follow at Aspen XC Center.
February 9- USSA SuperTour Owl Creek Chase - 25K SuperTour/Colorado
Cup Elite and Citizens race and 15K Junior Olympic Qualifier and Citizens
Race. Freestyle from Snowmass to Aspen. Bonus scoring for Town
Series due to elite field. 9 a.m. start for elites. Other categories
to follow.
February 17 - Change of Date notice -
This race is now being held on Sunday and not Saturday. Moore Loop Circuit Race - 3 lap or 6 lap (4.5 or 9K)
freestyle on the Moore Open Space Tracks. 10 a.m. start. Awards and
Raffle to follow at Aspen XC Center.
March 2 - 7 C's Classic - Classic race on the Child Ranch on Capital
Creek. Categories for town series as well as costumes. Aspen Town
Series Finale, BBQ and awards ceremony. Free BBQ, raffle, and awards
ceremony for all series participants to celebrate the Town Series season.
10am at the Child's Ranch.

Scoring Guidelines
Scoring: Overall and Sport/Beginner Group awards in series.
Minimum of two races to count toward the series. Score maximum best 4
races of 7.
Overall Scoring top 10/points: 1st-20, 2nd-17, 3rd-14, 4th-12, 5th-10, 6th-8,
7th-6, 8th-4, 9th-2, 10th-1
Overall Scoring for Owl Creek: 1st-40, 2nd-37, 3rd-34, 4th-31, 5th-28, 6th-25,
7th-22, 8th-19, 9th-16, 10th-13, 11th-10, 12th-9, 13th-8, 14th-7, 15th-6,
16th-5, 17th-4, 18th-3, 19th-2, 20th-1
Age Group Scoring top 5 points: 1st-10, 2nd-7, 3rd-4,
4th-2, 5th-1
Prizes: Overall top 3 male/female, age groups top 3 male/female
based on best of 5 races. Overall prize winners not eligible for age
group awards.
