The Ute Mountaineer is the local's and visitor's choice when coming to the Aspen/Snowmass area. When we're not in the store we are usually out having fun in the backcountry using what we sell. We take great pride in helping our customers select the right gear for their needs and product knowledge is a key element. Our trips in Aspen's backcountry and beyond give us a good understanding of what products are best. You choose- hiking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, running, mountaineering, telemark skiing, alpine touring, cross country skiing, we know it , we use it and we supply the gear for it.  January 24 - Tuesday Last Frontier Heliskiing has been a pioneering force in heliskiing since 1996. Stop by for a free slide show about skiing the deep powder of British Columbia. Discover what makes Last Frontier Heliskiing a legend in its own right. There will be a Avalanche Airbag Demonstration featuring BCA, Mammut and ABS after the slide show.   January 25 - Wednesdays Master's Racing Club - No lesson this week due to family emergency. For those that want to stay on a roll, it certainly wouldn't hurt to do something similar to last week. Long, uphill repeats, steady, not too fast, concentrating on perfect form.
 Jan 4th - Feb 22., noon, meet at AXCC for first session. Call 925-2145 for more information.

 January 28- Saturday $10 Beginner & Intermediate Skate Lessons with $10 rentals at the Snowmass Cross Country Center, 10am & 12pm. Limited to 20 people. Rentals can be picked up 30 min prior to lessons. For more information, call (970) 923-5700.

 January 29 - 2012 Aspen Cup Nordic Series - The Maroon Bells 10k Classic race will be relocated due to avalanche danger, it will happen at the High School trail system same day, same time. Maroon Bells Hill Climb - 10k classic mass start race. Race @ 10am. Registration, S/F at winter gate, please carpool parking is limited.. Entry fees: Adult $15,  Juniors $7.
